Dr. Mortimer specializes in applied econometrics, industrial organization, and health economics. Her work has included analysis of mergers, monopolization, bundling, discrimination, damages, and other antitrust matters in a variety of industries. Dr. Mortimer began her career as an economist at the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice, where she evaluated the competitive effects of proposed mergers and agreements. In this role, she specialized in empirical studies and econometric analyses, including the estimation of demand elasticities for various products using scanner data, as well as the assessment of consumer harm resulting from proposed mergers. At both NERA and the Antitrust Division, she has used her Japanese language skills to contribute to foreign antitrust and trade investigations involving the Japan Fair Trade Commission and Japanese and multinational firms.
